In fact, recent statistics show that more than 80% of every purchasing decision made in nearly every industry across the world is preceded by an internet search in some form or fashion. That’s Big!
How Big is Big?
Really big! According to the Netcraft Web Server Survey, as of December 2009, there are around 233,848,493 websites (with billions of pages) available around the world wide web. And that number has been increasing by 21 thousand new sites every month.
According to InternetWorldStats.com, as of July 30th 2010, of the 6.8 billion people on the planet, fully 2 billion of them use the internet via a computer or laptop on a daily basis. That’s huge.
Then, to make matters even more interesting, of those 6.8 billion folks, 5.4 billion of them have mobile phones. That’s almost 3 times the market size of the whole internet!
In the US alone, there are more than 54 million smartphone users. By the end of 2012, it’s expected that internet connected mobile devices (such as the iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch, and Android, Blackberry, & Windows devices) will outnumber computers and laptops 2 to 1.
Reaching the new consumer is no longer as easy as putting an ad in the yellow pages and expecting to get business.
